It was decided to make no changes to the the skate park at the present time. Local police officers will be visiting residents in the neighbourhood to discuss their personal views concerning the park. The parish cpuncil will be involved in consultations with local residents and with the users of the skate park. After which time, a decision will be taken as to the most acceptable option for the community as a whole. ___________________________________________________________________ If you wish to comment on this topic - please email the parish council. ___________________________________________________________ Posted 17th May 2007 - 11.15 As reported in the Coalville & Ashby Times, the lease at the skateboard park is currently under review. Continuing damage and anti-social behaviour in the park is an increasing cause for concern to the Council and to residents in the vicinity. The parish council have no plans to repair the damaged cameras or the brickwalls which have been vandalised. At this time, no decision has been made on whether to close the park. _____________________________________________________________________ posted 3rd May 2007 - 09.40 a.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE AT SKATEBOARD PARK On Monday 1st May at approximately 7.30 pm.,The closed circuit TV cameras were totally destroyed. These cameras were mounted on a pylon bolted to the brick wall high above the skateboard park. We know that kids will be kids, and frustration/boredom plays a part in their behaviour. But, this is not a case of some childish prank. This is deliberate criminal damage and it will take many thousands of pounds to replace the equipment ! The Police were in attendance quite quickly and took the names of all persons there at that time. If sufficient evidence is forthcoming, the parish council will seek to prosecute the offenders and, apply for reparations/costs. As you are probably aware, The Parish Council receives funding directly from the council tax and so, it is the local residents who will have to foot the bill, yet again, for these mindless acts. Frequently such acts are down to one or two individuals; if we can identify these and take action against them, it will go a long way to curing the problem. We would encourage all residents to report anything they know to Leicestershire Police on 0116 2222222 Alternatively, posted 30th April 4.15 p.m. 12 Bedding plants stolen this time.
